FLW's Cardiff City fan pundit has been discussing whether hiring Aaron Ramsey as the new Bluebirds boss would be the right decision.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Aaron Ramsey looks increasingly likely to become the next permanent manager of Cardiff City.
According to talkSPORT, Ramsey has now emerged as the leading candidate to replace Omer Riza as Cardiff City boss, with owner Vincent Tan expected to offer him the role ahead of the 2025/26 League One campaign.
The Bluebirds will be looking for a manager who can guide them straight back to the Championship next season, and it remains to be seen whether they believe Ramsey fits the bill in that regard.
We asked our Bluebirds fan pundit, Matt Hall, whether this would be the right decision for the club, and he fully backs Ramsey to take charge and succeed.
Matt sees this as the natural and right choice: "I am very much high on Aaron Ramsey at the moment. He is very much the front-runner.
"I would put all the money I've got on him being our new manager now at this stage."
While some fans may question his lack of managerial experience, Matt believes this can be addressed with the right support staff.
"I think the negative is that experience is the issue. But this can be solved by bringing in assistant coaches who are experienced and know how to deal with the nuances of football management."
A key factor in Ramsey's potential appointment is the change he has demanded behind the scenes. It's understood that the 34-year-old pushed for structural reforms during his brief three-game spell in caretaker charge last season.
"If you believe the rumours, Ramsey was a huge advocate for change above him and his role. He said so himself in the three games he had. If he is to take the job on, you would think he's had assurances that these changes will happen," Matt added.
Matt believes Ramsey's emotional ties to the club, combined with the chance to develop the club's young core, make this an ideal long-term fit.
"There is a really good core of academy players who will have idolised Aaron Ramsey. There's a chance to build a new philosophy, a new identity, similar to what Craig Bellamy has done with Wales.
"He can unite the fans. Nobody will want Aaron Ramsey not to succeed, and I think that he will succeed."
Although Ramsey's playing career isn't officially over, and he remains Wales captain heading into the 2026 World Cup cycle.
talkSPORT have reported that Cardiff have ruled out the idea of him serving in a player-manager capacity.
The club has had eight permanent managers since the start of 2021. Now, there is growing hope that Ramsey could bring long-term stability and lead a promotion push back to the Championship.
