With it being a quiet start to the summer transfer window the majority of news regarding Manchester City has been about players being linked with moves to the club. A host of players have been linked with potential moves to the champions. The latest player to be linked with a possible move to City is West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus. While Kudus had an impressive season a Manchester City move for the midfielder doesn’t appear likely on closer investigation.

Farrell Keeling has reported for CaughtOffside that Manchester City appreciate the talents of Mohammed Kudus. Furthermore, Keeling reports that Manchester City see Kudus as a potential Kevin De Bruyne replacement. But Keeling also reports that other clubs are monitoring the West Ham midfielder. Keeling reports that Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Liverpool are also monitoring the Ghanaian international.

It doesn’t appear that a Manchester City move for Kudus is likely.

There is no doubting the quality of Mohammed Kudus. The West Ham midfielder is one of the most dynamic and exciting players in the Premier League. He scored 18 goals and added 8 assists in 48 appearances for West Ham in all competitions last season. After arriving at West Ham from Ajax during the 2023 summer transfer window Kudus quickly established himself in the Premier League. That form has caught the eye of several clubs including Manchester City.

But as Farrell Keeling reports the champions potentially see Kudus as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. Based on recent comments from the Manchester City club legend De Bruyne doesn’t appear likely to leave the club this summer. In an interview with Belgian publication HBVL De Bruyne said he expects to remain at the world champions for next season. If that is the case perhaps City will look to strengthen in other areas this summer.

There is no doubting the quality of West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus. He has proven his pedigree during his time with West Ham. But if De Bruyne doesn’t depart the champions this summer then they may not look for a potential De Bruyne replacement this summer. However, it may be a move the champions investigate next summer depending on what the future holds for Kevin De Bruyne.
