‘A diamond’ – Former Atlético & Barcelona star hails Real Madrid’s Arda Güler | OneFootball

One-time Barcelona and Atlético Madrid star Arda Turan has on Friday moved to reveal his appreciation for Real Madrid starlet Arda Güler.

This, of course, comes amid what has proven a challenging opening to the new campaign for Güler to date.

Though he has enjoyed an uptick in game-time compared to his debut season, the 19-year-old is still evidently some way down the pecking order when it comes to the first-choice options of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

All told, across Real Madrid’s 17 appearances in all competitions to date, Güler has been afforded starts in just three.

As much has given rise to mounting questions regarding Ancelotti’s treatment of the starlet, amid calls for a more prominent role for Güler.

One individual, though, who is continuing to look at the positives when it comes to the Turkish international’s situation, comes in the form of fellow countryman and namesake Arda Turan.

Speaking in an interview with Marca on Friday, ex-Barcelona man Turan was drawn on Güler’s efforts in Madrid to date, and went on to assure:

“Even though he is not getting many minutes, every touch he gives is like a diamond.”
