FC Barcelona had to do it the hard way against Levante in Valencia, but eventually managed to secure an important 3-2 win to continue their winning start to the new La Liga season.
This means that Hansi Flick’s men have now scored 6 goals in 2 games, starting off from where they left off last season. The team showed strong mentality to facilitate the comeback against Levante last night.
Having gone into the half-time break with a 2-0 deficit, it was Barcelona midfield star Pedri who got the ball rolling in the second half with an absolute screamer that bent away from the goalkeeper and found its way into the back of the net.
It was a MOTM performance from the Canary Islander who ran the show against Levante. As per stats from Sofa Score, Pedri had a sublime game at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.
The 22-year-old playmaker played the entire 90 minutes on the night, registering an xG of 0.08 and xA of 0.45. He should have ended with an assist against his name, but Ferran Torres hit the bar after Pedri put a ball on the plate for him in the first half.
Pedri recorded 145 touches on the ball on the night, completing 118 of his 127 attempted passes with an impressive 93% accuracy. This also included 3 out of 6 long balls being successfully completed.
The 22-year-old produced two key passes, created one big chance, and won two out of eight ground duels, and his only attempted aerial duel.
All in all, it was an excellent all-round midfield display from Pedri that helped Barcelona perform the comeback win against Levante. The Spaniard is one of the best midfielders in the world, if not the best, and there isn’t anything that he cannot do. All Barcelona fans will want is for it to continue for a long time to come.
