Liverpool completed a lot of recruitment business in the beginning of the summer, but we are now faced with a situation that needs to be dealt with incredibly carefully over the next eight weeks.
The transfers that have already been completed were necessary additions to the squad and the fans could understand where the club was coming from.
Throughout the remainder of the window, there might be an expectation that further business needs to be conducted before the season begins.
Of course, in the current circumstances, that is difficult to imagine, as everyone's primary focus is on digesting the news about Diogo Jota - his passing has really put everything into perspective.
But in time, the club will operate again how it once did, looking at making sure Arne Slot is best prepared to perform his role as head coach. Right now, his prerogative is going to be making sure the players are okay.
As such, it feels only right that expectations for the upcoming campaign are cooled.
Where the club goes from here is still being worked out, as a respectful approach is being implemented for all of Liverpool's activities. Once we have had the opportunity to regroup and work out what needs to happen, then the fans will get greater clarity on the situation.

Liverpool should not be making any rash decisions in the transfer market over the next eight weeks if they feel they need to plug some gaps in the squad at the last minute. That would be a mistake.
Over at Manchester City, it appears as though a decision made only last January is proving to have been an error, as Alfredo Pedulla is reporting - referencing a BILD report - that Nico Gonzalez might be on the way out.
Reconsidering a transfer this big after just six months is a truly baffling strategy.
Liverpool were interested in Gonzalez, who moved to the Eithad for €60m from Porto. Under sporting director Richard Hughes, the Reds were not prepared to get involved in that fight.
And it appears that the move has paid off for either party.
The strategy at Anfield under FSG has generally been that it's better to make no transfer than the wrong transfer. That is the €60m lesson City are learning over Nico - who hasn't yet managed to convince.
Liverpool should not be abandoning their frugal and restrained approach.
Each of our rival clubs are making transfer moves, and they're fascinating to watch unfold, but getting caught up in the spending frenzy would risk the project the Reds have in place.
Last season, a mere £12.5m was spent, and if Arne Slot wants to use the current options available to him without any further recruitment, then we will back that decision to the hilt.
We are in uncertain times right now and eventually, we will have the clarity we desire. But until then, we must wait.
