Earlier this week, Sportico released its rankings of the 50 most-valuable pro soccer clubs in the world, and the list has been welcome fodder for Major League Soccer evangelists.
Five MLS teams were included in the top 20 clubs, according to the sports business media outlet's rankings. Further, 19 clubs were included in Sportico's top 50, making MLS the most-represented league on the list. (With 30 clubs total, MLS also has more teams than the other leagues whose teams were included.)
Here's how the top five MLS clubs came in and where they rank worldwide.

Part of City Football Group, New York City FC joined MLS in 2015 and has had a checkered existence, winning the 2021 MLS Cup but being forced into a semi-nomadic existence for most of its history. The club currently rotates its home games between the baseball venues of Yankee Stadium and Citi Field but is due to move into its own purpose-built venue in Queens in 2027.

The Five Stripes burst onto the MLS scene in 2017 and won the 2018 MLS Cup. They continue to be perennial MLS attendance leaders despite more recent struggles on the pitch, including a club-worst start to the 2025 MLS regular season. They are one of three MLS teams to share owners with their city's NFL team, along with Charlotte FC and the New England Revolution.

The defending MLS Cup champions are the only original MLS side on the list. The Galaxy remains MLS' most decorated side after capturing its sixth MLS Cup title. They also have won four Supporters' Shields and two U.S. Open Cups over their 30 years. But 2025 has been a brutal year so far for the Galaxy, who are one of only two MLS clubs still without a win through Matchday 11.

The presence of Lionel Messi and his reunited former FC Barcelona teammates has made Inter Miami one of the most powerful brands in global soccer. The Herons lead all MLS clubs in terms of annual revenue generated, and have already won two major trophies since Messi's arrival: the 2023 Leagues Cup and the 2024 Supporters' Shield. They'll move into their permanent home sometime in 2026.

The Black-and-Gold have been a juggernaut since their launch in 2018, and have lured stars like Carlos Vela, Gareth Bale, Giorgio Chiellini and most recently Olivier Giroud to downtown Los Angeles. The junior LA side also won MLS Cup and the Supporters' Shield in 2022, and the U.S. Open Cup in 2024, and have also appeared in four other major finals since 2020.
