Football League World takes a look at two Terriers players who must leave this summer for two different reasons.

Huddersfield Town's season has been a rollercoaster, and their form has taken a significant hit in recent weeks, with Michael Duff needing consistency to ensure that his team have a chance of finishing in the play-offs.

The Terriers suffered relegation to League One at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, and life back in the third tier has not been as easy as supporters would have hoped and this summer looks to be one of change to ensure that no matter what division they find themselves in, performances are more consistent.

Duff has his work cut out in the coming months to help build a squad capable of competing for promotion back to the Championship if they miss out on it this year, and with nine players out of contract, an overhaul is on the cards.

Football League World has taken a look at two Huddersfield players who must leave the club in the summer for pastures new.

Josh Koroma

Josh Koroma has spent the last six years as a Terrier, spending two seasons out on loan at Rotherham United and Portsmouth during this time.

However, 2024/25 has been arguably his best in West Yorkshire and with his contract due to expire in the summer, a move away is currently looking incredibly likely. According to Football Transfers' Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) tool, the winger is valued at €700k (£590k), but his current side will not see a fee if he does depart at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old has been back among the goals in League One, and the challenge of playing in the Championship once again is something that could tempt him into leaving Huddersfield when his deal does come to an end.

Terriers supporters will be hoping that he comes to an agreement with Duff in the coming weeks and commits his future to the club, but he has the ability to play higher up the pyramid and as he is coming into his prime, this has to happen quickly.

Able to play just about anywhere behind the striker, there will be plenty of interest in Koroma from other sides and with Huddersfield struggling for consistency, he may take on a new challenge.

Danny Ward

Similar to Koroma, Danny Ward's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and the decision must be made to not renew his deal.

The 34-year-old's involvement in the team has stopped completely, and with the forward now out for the rest of the campaign with an ACL injury, it seems as though he has played his final game for the club.

Ward started just nine of his 13 Championship appearances this season, but he failed to find the back of the net and it is clear that his best days are now unfortunately behind him.

Coming back from this injury will be a difficult task, and it seems unlikely that he will be able to play at this level again when he does return, and it makes complete sense for Huddersfield to let go of him in the summer.
