The FA has this morning released fixtures for the upcoming 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship seasons.

With an exciting summer of World Cup action ahead and Barclays WSL attendances up 170% vs 2021/22 season, the stage is set to drive the popularity of the game forward yet again, with many clubs making bigger ‘main’ stadia scheduling pledges for the season ahead.

The Barclays WSL campaign is due to kick-off on 1 October with four main stadia ties locked in. Champions Chelsea open their campaign at Stamford Bridge against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur while Arsenal take on Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium, and Aston Villa welcome Manchester United to Villa Park as Bristol City take on Leicester City at their Ashton Gate home.

The Barclays Women’s Championship begins on 26 August with last season’s runners-up Birmingham City making an early trip to Blackburn Rovers, and newly promoted Watford welcoming Durham in their opening weekend.

The ever-popular Women’s Football Weekend makes a return from 23-24 March 2024, with new and existing fans encouraged to celebrate the game by attending fixtures across the women’s pyramid during an international window in the men’s calendar – including an always hotly anticipated Manchester derby.

The Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship combined boasts more players than any other league across the world making an appearance at this year’s 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with almost 100 athletes representing their nations.

With fixture news arriving on the eve on the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, today’s announcement coincides with the release of a new website connecting fans to the domestic careers of their favourite World Cup stars. Offering news, updates, fixture and ticketing information – the site is a new best-in-class destination for fans of the 24 domestic clubs across the top two tiers.

The Barclays Women’s Super League will once again be accessible in the UK through Sky Sports and the BBC with matches not selected for live broadcast being streamed on The FA Player. One match per round will be selected for live broadcast on the FA Player for the Barclays Women’s Championship with every match in the first two rounds all being live.
