Vitor Roque has become a hot topic in Barcelona lately, with recent reports suggesting that the club have reached an agreement with the Brazilian whizkid as he looks to take the next step in his career.
Today’s edition of the Diario SPORT has a cover story featuring Vitor Roque. The report suggests that the forward is insisting on a move to Camp Nou this summer, despite the economic differences between the two clubs.
This comes on the back of a report revealing how Barcelona and Athletico Paranaense are in a disagreement over Roque’s transfer fee structure. Barça reportedly want to pay €40 million for the player but in four-year instalments.
That means the Blaugrana are ready to pay €10 million per season for Vitor Roque until 2026. The club had a similar approach when signing Ferran Torres from Manchester City at the start of last year.
However, Athletico PR are not on board with this payment structure. The Brazilian outfit are looking for at least €20 million cash upfront, which has led to a disagreement between the two clubs.
Vitor Roque, though, is ready to push for a move to Barcelona despite the recent disagreement. The player has turned down offers from other clubs, which has put pressure on Athletico PR, knowing the Brazilian club cannot hold out for the highest bidder.
However, the impasse could lead to Barcelona ultimately signing Vitor Roque in 2024. But a lot depends on how the club fare in the upcoming transfer window and their success in offloading some of the unwanted players in the team.
If Barcelona are able to sanction a few sales in the summer, they could be in a position to afford Roque’s €20 million fee and pay the rest of the amount in instalments. The coming weeks, therefore, could be critical for all parties involved.
