Young left-back Dante Plunkett has trained with Manchester United’s first team ahead of the FA Cup fourth-round tie with Leicester City at Old Trafford on Friday.
Plunkett confirmed on his Instagram account that he trained with United’s senior squad today.
He joined United in 2024 after leaving Aston Villa academy and has featured for the U18s this season.
The young left-back has racked up 410 minutes in the U18 Premier League this term and has registered two goals.
He missed United’s loss to West Ham United yesterday in the U18 Premier League Cup.
Plunkett has shown he is an attacking left-back and may be suited to playing at left-wing-back. The young defender will hope to make the matchday squad against the Foxes.
Patrick Dorgu is the only natural left wing-back available for the tie. Tyrell Malacia is on loan with PSV Eindhoven, and Luke Shaw is unfit.
Plunkett is not the only youngster pushing to make the matchday squad on Friday. Centre-back Ayden Heaven is also in contention.
Heaven has just joined United from Arsenal and was unveiled alongside Dorgu before the league clash with Crystal Palace last weekend.
United are the cup holders, having beaten local rivals Manchester City in the final at Wembley Stadium last season.
The Red Devils qualified for the Europa League by winning the trophy, and they may have to do the same again to qualify for Europe next season.
