Marseille’s game at Lyon has been called off after Dimitri Payet was hit with a bottle.

Payet was taking a corner in the fourth minute of the match when he was struck by a projectile from the crowd.

The OM players then walked off the pitch and back down the tunnel in protest.

Confusion then ensued as Ligue 1 officials and the referee decided whether to continue the match.

The referee and the league gave the all-clear for the game to go ahead but players from both teams failed to re-emerge from their dressing rooms.

And after an hour delayed, it has finally been confirmed that the match is abandoned.

Shockingly this is the sixth time this season that crowd trouble has delayed or stopped a game in the French top flight.
