Illan Meslier has been wildly successful as Leeds goalkeeper with Kiko Casilla suspended and it’s no secret that the Whites want to keep hold onto the 20-year-old.

Meslier, who is on loan from Ligue 2 outfit Lorient, has earned clean sheets in both of his Championship appearances and allowed just a single goal against Arsenal, making four saves in the process.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa believes Meslier is one of the top young European goalkeepers and will sign him to a permanent deal, should Leeds secure promotion to the Premier League.

The France U-20 international’s season-long loan came with a £6m option-to-buy, a price that seems like an absolute bargain given his performances.

Should the Championship season resume, leaders Leeds will have nine games to hold onto their seven-point advantage over third-placed Fulham in order to go to the top-flight for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
