Juventus sack coach Max Allegri following Coppa Italia outburst | OneFootball

Juventus have parted company with coach Massimiliano Allegri with immediate effect, just days after they lifted the Coppa Italia.

The Bianconeri still have two league matches remaining this season and could still leapfrog Monday’s opponents Bologna into third place in Serie A.

But they will attempt to do so without Allegri, who was sent off in the dying stages of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia victory over Atalanta, and also appeared to make a dismissive gesture towards sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli during the post-match celebrations.

A statement released by the club on Friday read: “The dismissal follows certain behaviours during and after the Coppa Italia final which the club deemed incompatible with the values ​​of Juventus and with the behaviour that those who represent it must adopt.”

It brings to an end the 56-year-old’s second spell in charge of the Old Lady, which lasted almost three seasons, during which time his sole trophy was this season’s Coppa Italia.

Allegri’s previous spell in Turin was significantly more decorated, with five Scudetti and four Coppas Italia lifted between 2014 and 2019.

Thiago Motta – who has already guided Bologna to Champions League qualification this season – is considered the favourite to take over from Allegri this summer.
