“Dybala? He only completed one full training session. We need to understand today how he’s feeling and then we will decide if he can play tomorrow,” said De Rossi.

“Roma’s upcoming transfer window? We talked about what will be needed for next season. Sometimes it is better to invest in our players to make them an asset. I haven’t talked with the owners yet about how much money will be made available. What matters is not how much money there is, but how you spend it.”

“We already discussed the type of players we will need for more stability next season. I didn’t make any names in particular. I also have a list of players I consider not for sale but it’s premature to name names.”

“Genoa? Gilardino amazes me every time. His Genoa is a wonderful team to watch, one of the more delightful surprises in the league. He’s a good manager and a good man. It will be great to see him again tomorrow,” De Rossi said of his former Italy teammate.

“Strootman? I’m sure that tomorrow the Olimpico will applaud him. He has always honored this shirt and deserves to receive a proper farewell.”

“My renewal? It took us maybe ten minutes to agree on wages and duration of the new deal,” reassured the head coach. “The announcement will be made soon, there is no hurry.”

“The match against Atalanta? There are no excuses. It was up to us to play better, what we did was not good enough,” he added.

“Each coach has his own way of running a club’s transfer window or building the squad. In recent years the team has always been sixth or seventh and we want to do better. To do this, the first requirement of those who come is to be hungry. They must want to come to Roma. Their legs must burn with desire and hunger on the pitch.”

“I know what I want from this transfer window. But out of respect for the players I have I will not think about it now. I don’t have much time and I must focus on the last two games.”
