La Liga outfit Deportivo Alavés have on Friday confirmed that head coach Luis García has put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.

García, for his part, has been plying his managerial trade on the books of Alavés since back in the summer of 2022.

And to say that the Spaniard has done an impressive job at Mendizorroza would be putting it altogether lightly.

After guiding Alavés back to La Liga at the first time of asking last season, García has since maintained the Babazorros’ top-flight status in stellar fashion.

In fact, with two games of the season to play, García’s troops find themselves in with a real chance of a top-half finish.

Word coming to the fore over the course of recent weeks that the brass at Mendizorroza had begun work towards tying their headmaster down to fresh terms had therefore come as little surprise.

And, as alluded to above, on Friday, discussions between the two parties have borne fruit.

As per an announcement across Alavés’ official website and social media platforms:

‘Deportivo Alavés and Luis García Plaza have reached an agreement to extend the coach’s contract until June 2026.’
