Atalanta are braced for a potential bidding war for midfielder Teun Koopmeiners this summer, with several European giants lining up to secure his services.

According to Italian journalist Emanuele Corazzi (via TuttoMercatoWeb), Koopmeiners has plenty of admirers including Liverpool.

The 25-year-old has been sensational for Atalanta this season, notching 15 goals and seven assists in 48 games across all competitions.

He has established himself as the lynchpin of Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, spurring La Dea towards a place in the Champions League and the Europa League final.

Koopmeiners is regarded as the most complete midfielder in the Italian top flight, so it’s no surprise that he is highly sought after.

In addition to bagging 12 goals and five assists in 32 Serie A games, Koopmeiners has nearly hit double figures in big chances created, notching nine, while averaging 1.8 key passes per match.

The Dutchman is versatile enough to play multiple roles in the middle of the park and has also been able to slot into defence when required.

Koopmeiners is also wanted by Serie A duo Juventus and Napoli, but they’re unlikely to match Atalanta’s €60 million asking price, paving the way for Liverpool to swoop.

The Reds are preparing for life after Jurgen Klopp, with Feyenoord tactician Arne Slot set to succeed the German at the end of the season.

Slot has already proven himself to be one of the most exciting managers in Europe, and the Liverpool faithful are hoping that the Dutchman can replicate his Feyenoord success at Anfield.

Landing Koopmeiners would be a statement of intent from Liverpool, who only have the League Cup to show for their efforts this season.
