Barcelona head coach Xavi has tonight spoken out on the claims of the alleged trouble behind the scenes at the club.

The subject of developments in the boardroom in Catalunya’s capital has of course taken its place front and centre in the media chatter across the day to date.

As much comes after widespread reports were forthcoming that Joan Laporta’s absence from the travelling party for Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Almería was down to a falling out with manager Xavi.

Barca’s president is understood to have been left furious by comments laid out by Xavi during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

As much saw the Spanish tactician simultaneously highlight the dire financial situation at the Camp Nou at present, and the need for reinforcements to his squad.

Laporta is alleged to have seen this as being in direct contrast to Xavi’s sentiments during the recent meeting between the parties to confirm his future for next season.

Amid claims that his future has now been thrown up in the air as a result, the situation was in turn put to Barcelona’s headmaster himself on Thursday night.

Fresh off guiding his side to a 2-0 victory at the Power Horse Stadium, Xavi explained:

“The club has not told me anything after my words yesterday. The relationship has not changed. Yesterday I only said what I think.

“I’m calm regarding my future next season and that’s what I told Deco and Laporta.”

He continued:

“I understand the noise. The environment around the club is always like that. But no, I’m calm and ready to start next season. My whole staff are very excited. We want to play the Suer Cup, we want to compete for titles next season. We want to win titles again.”
