The exploits of Villarreal star Alexander Sørloth on Sunday all but brought an end to the race for the Pichichi title.

As much comes after the Norwegian hitman enjoyed nothing short of a remarkable outing in front of goal, against Real Madrid.

Villarreal played host to the La Liga champions a short time ago, in the respective clubs’ penultimate domestic fixture of the term.

When all was said and done, a pulsating affair saw the spoils shared, in a 4-4 stalemate.

And Sørloth, incredibly, was responsible for all four of his side’s goals, amid an outing which will no doubt live long in the memory for the 28-year-old.

Eventual result aside, though, Sørloth’s endeavours this evening are also highly likely to earn him an altogether prestigious individual prize.

Owing to a late-season push, the powerful attacker has now taken his tally for the La Liga campaign to an impressive 23 goals.

As much has catapulted him two clear of Girona’s Artem Dovbyk in the race for the Pichichi, with just a single round of fixtures to play.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham (19) and Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski (18) would now require a minor miracle on the final day to keep their top-scorer hopes alive.
