Malick Thiaw has played down speculation linking him with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, claiming that it is simply part of the game.
Speaking at an event organised by Under Armour at the Brand New House Under Armour in Piazza Gae Aulenti in Milano (comments relayed by Sempre Milan), the German defender was asked about some of the transfer speculation surrounding him.
Whilst Thiaw is perhaps not viewed as one of the most important players at Milan, he holds a lot of potential and that is something that big clubs in Europe can see.
That is why the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for Thiaw. They think he can provide depth and grow into an important defender at the top level.
As far as Thiaw is concerned, the rumours are just part and parcel of football at the top level, saying: “It’s part of football, there always has to be news. My focus is on Milan. Next season I want to do better. I’m focused on myself and the team’s performance.”
There is some flex in the amount that Milan actually paid/will pay for Thiaw from Schalke in August 2022, but it is around the €10m mark.
Him joining a team like Real Madrid or Bayern would represent a serious capital gain, so it is a story to keep an eye on with many players potentially on the market.
