The Great Debate: What should Arsenal do about Unai Emery?

Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday was a new low for manager Unai Emery.
It wasn’t so much the result as the manner of the performance as the Gunners meekly squandered a two-goal lead and the supporters in attendance had every right to be frustrated.
But what should the club do with Emery? Do they back him or sack him and if it’s the latter, who should they get to replace him?
Our writers have their say.
Arsenal have picked up 30 points from their last 20 Premier League games. They’ve won just three league games under Emery by more than two goals. They’ve kept just 10 clean sheets in 48 league games.
The club’s style has disappeared and not even to be replaced by more impressive results. And if they don’t act soon, they’ll be facing another year without the Champions League.
Get club-icon-turned-assistant-coach Freddie Ljungberg in until May – how much worse can it get with this squad? – and reassess his position in the summer.
I think they should sack him but I’d be surprised if they did it anytime soon.
However, if they do, I reckon they should make an ambitious move for Massimiliano Allegri.
He’s been out of the game since leaving Juventus at the end of last season and would surely jump at the chance to manage a Premier League club of Arsenal’s stature.
What’s the worst that could happen?
Like others have said, Arsenal should absolutely sack Emery and give it to Ljungberg until the end of the season.
Then I would be keeping a very close eye on Marco Rose.
Did an excellent job with RB Salzburg and now his Borussia Mönchengladbach are top of the Bundesliga playing some brilliant stuff.
In my opinion, sacking Emery isn’t going to bring the answer to Arsenal’s problems, certainly not mid-season.
Not only are there few suitable candidates to take over, you are pretty much writing off the rest of the season whilst the new man turns the team into his own.
This Arsenal side is good enough top finish top 6 and Emery can just about get them there. I’d say stick with him, then re-evaluate next summer.
It doesn’t seem to make much sense to sack Emery right now.
A lack of available, world-class replacements means that Arsenal really aren’t going to be any better off by getting rid of the Spaniard.
I would give him until at least the end of the season and then if things really don’t improve in that time, go all out for Mikel Arteta.
