Sebastian Hoeneß on Sehrou Guirassy’s future: “I have no reason to think that he will play his last game for us.” | OneFootball

Speaking at his press conference ahead of the final Bundesliga game of the season, VfB Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeneß commented on the future of striker Sehrou Guirassy.

On Saturday, Stuttgart and Guirassy will finish a very successful season at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach, but Guirassy has received constant interest from other clubs, and there is a possibility that this could be his last game. When asked about this scenario, Hoeneß said: “I have no reason to think that he will play his last game for us. I’m also not naive to know that there are probably one or the other interested parties.”

Hoeneß then emphasised what he thinks of Guirassy’s future: “As in the last transfer periods before: I know that he feels super comfortable and it is very, very well considering whether he will take this step. I also find it legitimate when he does it when there is something special on the table. I am thinking of the biggest clubs in Europe. And if they knock, which I can well imagine, then he has to think about it. It would be very difficult for him, which is why the decision has not yet been made. We have to wait and see. I’m not that negative – without having received a hint.

The club that has shown the most interest in Guirassy as of late is Borussia Dortmund and with a release clause said to be worth around €20m, a move is feasible. However, despite Dortmund making it to the Champions League final this season, the club has had a terrible league campaign and a move to the Schwarzgelben, could potentially be viewed as a sideways move.

This season has been Guirassy’s best in his career having scored 28 goals in 29 games for Stuttgart as they qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 14 years.
