Real Madrid’s last game at Santiago Bernabeu this season ended in a rather anti-climatic fashion, as the newly-crowned Spanish champions were held 4-4 in an entertaining clash with Villarreal.
Despite the poor result, there were many positives for Real Madrid. Arda Guler, in particular, shone brightly as he produced arguably his best performance since joining Los Blancos last summer.
A recent report from The Athletic has highlighted the impact Guler has had during the final stretch of the campaign.
Despite being forced back by injuries, Guler retained his resolve and has emerged as one of La Liga’s greatest attractions lately.
At least that is the view shared by Real Madrid’s technical staff, who did not fail to highlight Guler’s impressive decision-making skills in the final third, shortly after the game against Villarreal.

Guler, who scored two goals on the night, was instrumental in breaking down the Villarreal defence time and time again, as he weaved his magic in the final third.
Even apart from his goals, it was Guler’s decision-making and quick thinking that stole the eye of Real Madrid’s technical staff.
Thanks to a series of brilliant performances, it appears Guler is being perceived as something more than just a youth prospect, as far as Real Madrid are concerned.
Although that won’t be enough to convince Carlo Ancelotti to start in the upcoming Champions League final, it does bode well for the player’s prospects heading into next season.
With Luka Modric unsure of his future and Dani Ceballos likely to leave the club, Guler could enjoy a more prominent role in Real Madrid.
The Turkish international’s next objective will be to capitalise on his current form and finish the season on a strong note, before embarking on an equally crucial pre-season campaign.
