Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has named the squad’s next ambition after claiming a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title on Sunday.

The weekend’s achievement following a long battle with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal became the latest in a long list of record-establishing and breaking achievements from Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff in English football.

Guardiola and his City players have also achieved a ‘Centurions’ campaign by becoming the first club to ever reach 100 points in a single Premier League season in 2017/18, whilst the following campaign would be known as the ‘Fourmidables’.

2018/19 saw Manchester City claim every single domestic trophy on offer in England, with a Treble-winning season to follow in 2022/23 and now the winning of four successive Premier League titles being the latest outstanding record.

But the big question now stands: What is next for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City?

Speaking after the club’s statement victory over West Ham on Sunday, to finalise the direction of the English top-flight trophy, Pep Guardiola was keen to name City’s next ambition amid questions of what could be next for him following immense success over the years.

“We have won four (Premier League titles) in a row. What next? The FA Cup,” Guardiola was keen to point out to this in attendance. “No team has won back-to-back FA Cup and Premier League doubles.”

However, the Catalan boss continued, “Next season I don’t know what the motivation will be to do it because it’s difficult to find sometimes. Once we’re there, why should we not win today? I know we are going to do it.”

Pep Guardiola’s current Manchester City contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 season, and while there is a clear intent from within the club to extend his deal towards the 10-year mark, the Catalan himself undoubtedly remains undecided.

The feeling at present is that Guardiola will hold discussions with Manchester City officials next season, in what will be his ninth campaign in charge of the Etihad Stadium club having joined back in 2016.
