The recent weeks of West Ham United have been like a roller coaster ride. First, they got humiliated by Crystal Palace as the match ended 0-5. Then, they bounced back by extracting a 2-2 draw against Liverpool. Next, they again got outplayed by Chelsea with 5-0.

The Hammers have their next game locked against Luton Town in an away Premier League fixture. It would be good if they find some rhythm in that tie. Otherwise, they need to get prepared for a disastrous scoreline against Manchester City, whom they play on May 19.

Defence

Alphonse Areola made some good blocks to avoid further damage. He should be operating between the sticks for his side against Luton Town. Right full-back Vladimir Coufal is also likely to retain his place in the lineup.

Skipper Kurt Zouma should’ve done better against the Blues. Nevertheless, he forms the heart of the defence with Dinos Mavropanos, who could make his return after missing the previous game due to a knock. It also means Angelo Ogbonna will be sent to the bench.

Emerson Palmieri might find himself lucky to start this game as the left-back after a horrible display last week.

Midfield

The holding midfielders, Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez, are set to be deployed yet again. However, they will aim to command the game in a more dominating manner.

Mohammed Kudus, James Ward-Prowse, and Lucas Paqueta will be linking up the midfield with the offensive line. All three will have a crucial role to play.

Nayef Aguerd (ankle) and Kalvin Phillips (calf) are the confirmed absentees for the Hammers for this weekend’s clash.
