Matteo Moretto gives Football España exclusive information on the latest deals dominating the papers in Spain, as revealed in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing.

Inter not moving for Real Madrid defender

There is nothing in it at the moment. With Nacho, it will in all likelihood be his last season at Real Madrid, his mind is already focused on other opportunities for next season, rather than deciding whether to leave, and he wants to leave Europe.

The option he most likes is Major League Soccer, and his agent is working on that. Then there is the Saudi league that are also interested, but the MLS is the one that most appeals to him.

With Inter, they’re still working out a plan of action at the back. There are various players they like, as we’ve said, Alessandro Buongiorno is one of them. But they are not making any firm moves, as they figure out the economic side of things.

Barcelona President Joan Laporta furious with Xavi Hernandez

It’s true that Joan Laporta is furious with Xavi for what he said in the press conference, and his anger is enormous. At the time of writing, Xavi has not received any news from anyone though, and he has no knowledge of them wanting to sack him. We may know more in the coming hours.

Laporta still has to speak with Deco too, and we know that Xavi has a contract until 2025. So that’s an issue that has to be resolved as well. Given the economic situation at Barcelona, sacking him would not be easy. They will have to find a solution in the coming hours, but it’s true Laporta is furious – all the same, he hasn’t said anything to Xavi about it.

With Rafael Marquez, I can only say that he’s always been very highly regarded by the sporting commission, it’s a name that everyone in the club likes. We have to wait and see what happens though, but I have no confirmation of any actual movement, as they have to work things out with Xavi first.

Athletic Club not alone in Aymeric Laporte interest

Al-Nassr and Aymeric Laporte have to come to an agreement so that he can leave the club in the summer, but it’s true that he wants to return to Europe, and he would like to come back to Spain – that’s his priority. There are other clubs, both in Spain and Italy, that are asking about him.

For him, Athletic would be an important offer to consider, and Athletic are clearly interested, but first his agent will try to find a way of leaving Saudi Arabia. Then he would have to work out an agreement economically with Athletic. I am aware that there are other Spanish clubs interested in Laporte too though.

Bayern Munich and Arsenal monitoring Spanish left-back

With Miguel Gutierrez, Real Madrid are considering him as an option (they have an €8m buyback clause), but they have not made a firm decision on what to do at left-back. They have to work out the situations of Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia, and also see what happens with Alphonso Davies, whether that deal is possible.

There are lots of teams interested in Miguel, I know Girona want to keep hold of him for next season, he would be a starter in the Champions League and could continue his development at Girona. So it’s a bit of a complicated situation, with Girona, Real Madrid, and other teams also interested. Bayern Munich were following him, Arsenal were following him, and they are still keeping an eye on his situation. But don’t rule out other teams coming in for him either.

Matteo Moretto will be back with more transfer news in the coming days, providing exclusive information on the biggest stories in Spain and Italy.
