Barcelona’s triumphant 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano allowed them to fulfil a major objective: to qualify for the Spanish Super Cup.

While the Catalans did not waste time to seize the one-goal advantage, the visitors came close to equalizing on a number of occasions as Barcelona struggled to get a firm grip on the game.

That was until Pedri Gonzalez took to the field. The Canary Islander turned the tide around in Barcelona’s favor with his quality on the ball, but most importantly, he scored twice to secure a comfortable victory.

Ferran Torres praises his accomplice

Despite being unable to play a single minute, Ferran Torres celebrated his side’s victory and made sure to give his accomplice his roses.

“How happy I am. And let them keep barking,” Ferran shared on his Instagram story with a picture of Pedri doing his classic goggles celebration.

With the Canary Islander suffering from several injury mares over the last couple of seasons, criticism regarding his fitness issues have been a recurring theme.

However, Ferran has come out in the Spaniard’s support and used this opportunity to highlight his importance after he won the man-of-the-match award for his blistering brace.

The 21-year-old appears to be regaining rhythm ahead of the Euros and is likely to play a crucial role under Luis De La Fuente.

Ferran’s future up in the air

Considering Barcelona needs sales to return to financial equilibrium, Ferran’s future has been called into question a great deal, especially with Lamine Yamal the only untouchable up front.

With Raphinha and Lamine Yamal securing their positions as the two wingers, game time for Ferran has been hard to come by lately.

Xavi considers him an important player and will only approve his transfer if a better alternate is available, but with the coach also facing an uncertain future, Ferran may lose one of his biggest supporters.
