Marco Silva’s number one assistant is set to leave Everton to pursue a challenging opportunity in Portugal.
According to The Telegraph, Everton assistant manager Joao Pedro Sousa is set to depart to lead FC Famalicão, who gained promotion to Liga NOS for the first time in 25 years by finishing second in LigaPro.
It’s been reported that Sousa will be offered a two-year deal with the club.
Silva and Sousa have been together since 2011, remaining together with Sporting Lisbon, Olympiakos, Hull City, and Watford before coming to Everton last summer.
The two won the LigaPro title with Estoril and then led the small club into the Europa League by finishing fifth and fourth in Liga NOS in consecutive seasons.
They were also Trofense team-mates in the late 1990s.
Sousa has history with Famalicão, holding the assistant manager job during the 2009-10 season.
