Attacker Greenwood has of course spent the season to date on loan at the Estadio Coliseum.

And the arrangement has proven an altogether fruitful one for both parties, the 22-year-old having thoroughly impressed on his way to a haul of 10 goals and six assists.

The Getafe brass, in turn, have long made clear their hopes of bringing Greenwood back to the club for another season.

And, as alluded to above, this weekend, talks over precisely as much have been kickstarted between the parties.

As per a report from The Athletic, ‘Manchester United and Getafe have begun talks regarding the possibility of a new loan deal for Mason Greenwood’.

As things stand, an agreement being struck is considered something of a long shot, for a number of reasons.

Chiefly, Man United’s eagerness to find a permanent buyer for Greenwood, but also the hopes of the player of linking up with a Champions League club.

Should as much fail to develop over the weeks and months ahead, though, it is not out of the question that a 2nd Getafe loan could be on the cards.
