Keita has played a total of nine times this season for the Reds and made his first Premier League start since April in the 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Mills admitted that he didn’t have doubts about the midfielder’s quality but pointed out it had been hard for the 24-year-old to establish himself at Anfield due to injury problems.

When asked whether Keita can break into Liverpool’s first-team on a regular basis, Mills told Football Insider: “It’s tough when you miss large chunks of the season, you’re not quite up to speed, it’s hard to get that match fitness, especially when you’ve missed all those games.

“He’s undoubtedly got the quality, they bought him a large fee in the first place, they know what he can do.

“He’s just got to keep working hard, take his opportunities and games like today certainly help that.”

Keita registered his first Premier League assist and his first Premier League goal of the season against the Cherries and completed his second 90 minutes of the 2019/20 season.

The 27-year-old has seen his opportunities limited this season with him on the fringes of Klopp’s squad following a muscle injury.
