Euro 2024 is on the horizon and Germany is preparing to host it’s first major tournament since 2006. We’ve got all of the details for the RheinEnergieStadion, Cologne ahead of a summer full of international football.

The RheinEnergieStadion, Cologne will host five games at Euro 2024, including the last 16 clash on June 30th. The stadium is home to Bundesliga side FC Köln and was renovated in both in 1975 and 2004.

Notable Events

The RheinEnergieStadion, Cologne has been home to countless events over the years, under it’s previous names of the Sportpark Müngersdorf, completed in 1923, and the Müngersdorfer Stadion, which opened in 1975 and held two matches at the 1988 UEFA European Championship.

It is probably most famous for hosting the 2020 Europa League final however, which saw Sevilla run out 3-2 winners over Inter to secure their sixth UEFA Cup/Europa League title, since winning a seventh in 2022/23. It is also host to the Women’s Cup final each season and has been the location for countless gigs.

Six matches of the 2006 World Cup also took place there, including the last 16 tie between Switzerland and Ukraine and five group stage matches.
