End of an adventure for Kevin Gameiro | OneFootball

Out of contract in the summer of 2024, Kevin Gameiro has decided not to continue with Racing at the end of the season.

19 years after his first match and three years after his return to the club, Kevin Gameiro has made the decision to leave Racing. At the end of his contract, the French international striker will therefore play his last moments with the club against Metz and Lyon, during the 33rd and 34th rounds of Ligue 1 Uber Eats.

Kevin Gameiro played his first minutes with Racing in September 2005 against Paris SG, 6817 days ago. A few months later, he scored a double against Red Star Belgrade, becoming the youngest scorer in the history of Racing in the European Cup (18 years and 219 days).

After a successful career (4 titles in the Europa League and 13 caps for the French national team), Kevin Gameiro agreed to return to Alsace, where it all began for him. He thus greatly contributed to the 2021-2022 season as the team finished in sixth place, then to the team’s staying up in 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. On March 16, 2024, he scored his 100th goal in the French top flight against Nantes.

“It’s the end of a magnificent adventure. But it is time for me to turn the page, to have a different experience, certainly abroad. I leave Racing with great emotion. This is where I started professionally. The club and the supporters will remain forever in my memory. I experienced unforgettable moments here, and I want to thank each person who was part of this adventure” explains Kevin Gameiro.

“I would like to thank Kevin for everything he has brought to Racing. On the field, where he was a formidable scorer. But also off it, where he has shown great professionalism and pulled the whole club to the top for three seasons” says Marc Keller, president of Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace.

The striker has currently played 169 matches for Racing, having scored 43 goals in all competitions. The club wishes him the best for the rest of his career.
