Following the release of the Germany squad for Euro 2024, all eyes now turn to Spain, at least as far as the Barcelona fans are concerned.

While Julian Nagelsmann picked two Barcelona players for his German roster, the number could be way higher for Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente.

Barcelona teenage duo in contention

A recent report from Manuel Amor and Alfred Matilla (h/t FCB World) has offered a comprehensive update on de la Fuente’s plans for the Spanish squad for Euro 2024.

It is no secret that de la Fuente adores some of the existing Barcelona stars, despite the club’s ordinary campaign.

Two players, in fact, could be in focus as Spain look to release the final list. The players in question are Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.

As per the report, both the Barcelona teenagers are guaranteed to be in the Spanish squad barring an unexpected injury.

Yamal, in particular, is a surefire member of the squad and could even play a key role for La Roja‘s attacking unit, despite his age and relative lack of experience.

The 16-year-old, after all, has emerged as one of the best talents in world football and has the potential to become the next big thing in this beautiful game.

What about Cubarsi?

While Yamal’s place in the team will be of no doubt, Cubarsi’s potential inclusion has become a controversy of sorts in Spain.

This is primarily due to the fact that de la Fuente faces a selection dilemma in defence and choosing Cubarsi could see the exclusion of a certain Nacho Fernandez.

It has been reported recently that the Real Madrid veteran might miss out on the squad, which could spur further riot among the Madridistas.

Nacho’s father has already fired shots at the Spanish team for not recognising the talent of his son. De la Fuente, therefore, will have some tough decisions to make.
