Barcelona have a huge task on their hands ahead of the summer transfer window as they try to sort out their finances and go into the market looking for reinforcements for their squad in an attempt to compete at the highest level in Europe.

The Catalans are looking for a pivot, as a priority, and are also targeting other positions such as central midfield, left-wing, and fullback positions as areas that need to be bolstered.

While the concrete transfer targets are yet to be revealed, one player that Xavi and Deco are dreaming of signing this summer is Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva

Complicated operation

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are very serious about the possibility of signing Bernardo Silva this summer. He is a dream player for Xavi and the sporting director, Deco.

They believe he can be a differential player and elevate the team’s level to another level, that will help them challenge for the Champions League, as well.

However, the operation is very complicated. Barcelona have been struggling with money over the last few years, and will have to wait to see how their Financial Fair Play situation unfolds before making a move.

Available for €58 million

Luckily for Barcelona, unlike their previous pursuit for Bernardo Silva in the last few years, his price tag this summer will be €58 million (£50 million) courtesy of the release clause in his contract.

And while the player also prefers a move to Barcelona, as revealed by Joao Felix, that money, unfortunately, is largely reserved to sign a pivot, with Martin Zubimendi and Joshua Kimmich coming on top of the shortlist as ideal signings.

Reports have also claimed that Barcelona have contacted Real Betis’ Guido Rodriguez over. a free transfer move in the summer, although nothing is advanced.

Should that move go through, though, the Catalans may be able to muster up enough cash to splash on Bernardo. Until that happens, though, the operation seems unfeasible.
