Barcelona’s summer transfer window is expected to be hectic, with significant departures needed to help improve the club’s ailing finances. Ronald Araujo is one of those who could be sold on, amid strong links with Bayern Munich and clubs in the Premier League.

If Araujo does go in the summer, it means that he could have already played his final minutes as a Barcelona player, which came last Sunday in the 3-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano. As per Sport, the Uruguayan centre-back is doubtful for the trip to Sevilla this weekend, as he continues to struggle with discomfort in his knee.

Araujo has an agreement in place with head coach Xavi Hernandez which means that any risk of aggravating the problem will be completely avoided. With the match against Sevilla being a non-occasion, it would be a surprise if he was risked, especially with the Copa America on the horizon.

It may have been a tough season for Araujo, but it would still be a major blow if he was sold by Barcelona this summer. He’s still regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world, although his sale would fix the club’s financial woes to a degree.
