Barcelona confirm Xavi's U-turn on summer exit | OneFootball

Barcelona have confirmed that Xavi has reversed his decision to leave the club this summer.

The former playmaker announced in January that he would be stepping down at the end of the current campaign.

But following talks with Blaugrana president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco, Xavi has performed a U-turn.

“It is my pleasure to let you know that Xavi will continue as the coach of the Barça first-team,” said Laporta.

“We know he expressed a few months ago that he would leave the job as head coach but I now have the good news that we have spoke and he has expressed his joy to continue.

“He’s ambitious to continue this project where he has already won and wants to become more competitive. We are confident this is the best news for Barça.

“Stability is one of the most important elements for successful projects and in my experience as president, betting on the stability of a project is vital.”

Barça sit 11 points behind Real Madrid in the battle for LaLiga.
