Aurélien Tchouaméni (24) picked up an injury last night in Real Madrid’s victory over Bayern Munich that could rule him out of the Champions League final and put his place in France’s Euro 2024 squad in doubt.

According to L’Équipe, the Frenchman has been playing with ankle pain for some time with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti keen to pick the midfielder even if he was not at full fitness for the Champions League semi-final.

However, after an hour Tchouaméni was forced off the field after the pain was too severe. Examinations today have shown that he has suffered a stress fracture on his metatarsal, close to the previous fracture which saw him unavailable for months.

It is expected that he will be out for at least three to four weeks as he recovers, which could put his involvement in doubt for the final against Borussia Dortmund. Even if he is able to be selected, it is thought that he would start on the bench for Real Madrid.

Aurélien Tchouaméni a doubt for France?

This injury comes at an inopportune time for France, who with the injury to Lucas Hernandez (28) have begun to feel the impact of a burgeoning injury crisis. They will be desperate that Tchouaméni is able to recover fully for the competition this summer, but could possibly select him even if he is injured with the increased squad sizes.
