Atletico Madrid actively looking to sell Memphis Depay following Diego Simeone comments | OneFootball

Back in January 2023, Atletico Madrid secured the signing of Memphis Depay on a cut-price deal from Barcelona. The 30-year-old had been out of favour in the Catalan capital, and he was offered the chance to be a big player in Diego Simeone’s squad.

Unfortunately for Depay, his time at Atleti has been incredibly disrupted. As has been the case of much of his career, he’s struggled to stay fit so long, and this has frustrated club officials, and especially Simeone.

As reported by Diario AS, Atleti have taken the decision to sell Depay during the summer transfer window, as they aim to overhaul Simeone’s ailing squad for next season. Offers will be listened to for the Dutch forward, although for now, it’s yet to be known whether there is interest in his services.

Fellow striker Alvaro Morata – who is wanted by clubs in Italy and Saudi Arabia – could also leave, provided that Atletico Madrid receive an offer that is acceptable. The most likely to stay, other than Antoine Griezmann, is Angel Correa, whom Simeone would like to remain as part of his squad.
