Arsenal has reportedly identified Ajax striker Brian Brobbey as a primary target for the upcoming transfer window, according to The Independent.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly eager to secure a new attack leader before pre-season, with Brobbey emerging as the most realistic option.

While Newcastle United‘s Aleksander Isak is also on Arsenal’s radar, his departure from the club seems unlikely, as Newcastle is expected to offer the Swedish striker a new contract. Brobbey, on the other hand, could be more attainable, given Ajax’s financial situation and the player’s expressed desire to play for Arsenal (see below).

Brobbey has become a key figure for Ajax, making his potential departure a significant loss for the Dutch club. However, a move to Arsenal would fulfil a long-held dream for the striker, who recently revealed his admiration for the Gunners in an interview with NOS Jeugdjournaal.

The transfer is expected to be a high-stakes negotiation, as Ajax will likely demand a substantial fee for their star player with $80m the fee being reported. Nevertheless, if Arsenal are determined to secure Brobbey’s services, it’s likely they will.

Last month, it was reported that Brian Brobbey wants to join one of Europe’s top clubs, specifically naming Arsenal, Manchester United, or Real Madrid as his preferred destinations.

His impressive goal-scoring record this season, with 22 goals and 12 assists in 43 matches, has fuelled his confidence that he can attract both a big club and a big fee. Brobbey‘s successful return to Ajax after a stint at RB Leipzig has been instrumental in his development, accumulating a total of 49 goals and 19 assists in 119 games for the Dutch club.

The young forward believes his performances merit a substantial €80 million price tag and sees the upcoming European Championships as a platform to further showcase his talent. “If I can score a goal, I promote myself even more and increase my value,” Brobbey said.

A potential move to Manchester United, who recorded their lowest ever Premier League finish this weekend, could reunite Brobbey with his former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag, while Arsenal has also been linked with the striker in the past.

Despite his gratitude towards Ajax for their support, Brobbey is determined to take his career to the next level by playing for a major European club. “I’m about to blossom,” he said. “I still want to achieve many great things in my career, such as playing for a very big football club.”
