Paris Saint-Germain’s European dream came crashing down to reality on Tuesday evening as they were dumped out of the Champions League by Borussia Dortmund. Fifth in the Bundesliga and without a clean sheet in the league since the 30th of March, the German side even with a 1-0 lead from the first leg were considered outsiders.

There was an expectation in the French capital that this PSG side would do what they could not in the first leg and find a way through the yellow wall. It was a belief that had permeated its way into the club with L’Équipe reporting that certain departments had been told to begin preparing for the trip to Wembley where the final will be taking place.
