How many World Cups has USWNT won?

The USWNT has won four World Cups, claiming victories in 1991, 1999, 2015, and 2019. The women in red, white, and blue have tallied more wins than any other nation in the competition's history.

The four stars above the USA crest on the women's national team's jerseys represent each hard-fought World Cup victory. There would be five stars if not for a heartbreaking loss to Japan in the 2011 Women's World Cup final.

Just four years later, though, the USWNT bounced back in a major way at the 2015 Women's World Cup, beginning a dominant run in international soccer with their 5-2 win against Japan. The core group, led by Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe, became back-to-back World Cup champions in 2019, defeating the Netherlands 2-0.

As the USWNT added more and more silverware to their trophy case, the USMNT struggled to make a World Cup semi-final. In fact, 1930 was the last time the U.S. Men's National Team survived a World Cup quarter-final match. Despite participating in 11 World Cups, the U.S. Men's National Team has never even made a World Cup final, let alone walked away with the ultimate prize.

When it comes to the biggest stages in soccer, it is the USWNT that brings World Cup glory to the United States.
